Self paced course: Reflective thinking

The ability to reflect on one’s own thinking is one of the key attributes of a interdisciplinary or transdisciplinary researcher. The course consists of reading material and diagrams. This course is a self paced, e-learning course taking place over 8 sessions which enables participants to develop their reflective thinking and for them to learn how reflective thinking can improve other types of thinking. Each session introduces a different topic and gives participants time to practice what they have learned and share their thoughts with other participants and the course facilitator in a private forum.

Each session should take the participant approximately half an hour to read the material with further time needed to practice what they have learned during their work or personal time.

Sessions 1 to 3 introduce 3 models of reflective thinking
Session 4 introduces Reflexivity
Sessions 5 to 7 introduces Metacognition and metacognitive techniques
Session 8 discusses reflective thinkings impact of critical thinking

Prerequisites: Participants should have completed the main course.

Each session will be made available to participants some time after previous sessions have been completed. The time between sessions will be agreed with the course organiser but should be at least the following day and at most the following week.
